I forgot that I used to comment on current events. I miss doing that. Perhaps I’ll start this up again. Starting today.
Violence against The PEACEFUL Occupy Oakland protesters last week really REALLY pissed me off. An Iraq War veteran, Scott Olsen was critically injured when a police projectile hit him in the head. Video footage shows that he was not acting aggressively at all. He was just standing there. Also sickening, in this video you can see something else shot into the crowd of people who are gathered around him, trying to help him!
I found out several weeks ago that there was a library for the Occupy Portland protests. It piqued my interest. Then this article was shared by a friend on Google Buzz and it made me so happy. I LOVE that spontaneous libraries are sprouting up with these movements all over the country. I love that the free exchange of information and books are a part of this. I LOVE the idea of guerrilla librarianship! It makes me remember why I became a librarian in the first place.
The wreck that they are talking about in this article happened right in front of the building I was in. It was seriously crazy. And I was about to get in my car and drive on that very road. I’m so glad I wasn’t on the road when this happened!
Wow. This is pretty unbelievable.
These portraits are strangely fascinating.
