Would you rather climb a mountain or run a marathon?

Whenever I publish a post on this blog the confirmation page offers three writing prompts for the next blog post. I kind of think this is an engineering fail because why in the world would I need a writing prompt when I’m done writing? I would need it before I start writing. However, this question grabbed my attention and I need blog fodder for Nablopomo.

This is very easy to answer. I would rather run a marathon. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I do have a  fascination with mountain climbing (and maybe with mountains in general) but have never felt the need to actually do any climbing. However, I do have a friend who climbs mountains and has suggested that, since I like reading about it, maybe I should try it. Again, not something I’m really interested in signing up for. But who knows? Maybe someday I will get over this fear of heights and I will climb a mountain. I certainly have ample opportunities around here.

Running a marathon is something I am going to do. No question about it. It is something I have wanted to do for a long time. It’s almost like I have to do it. So there.

This is a good segue into telling you about how my running is going. Not super well. I think I mentioned that I developed plantar fascitis from running with the Vibrams. It pretty much plagued me for months and got to a point last summer where it was very painful to walk so I had to take some time off. I didn’t run for about three months. I finally started running again three weeks ago but am starting from scratch with the couch to 5k program. I don’t want to overdo it and injure my foot again. The pain is gone but every once in a while if I do too much it will come back a bit. So I’m trying to go easy this time. But I do have to say that it feels good to be back out there.
