Did you hear about the Turkish broadcaster? Who addressed Obama in blackface? WTF! Clearly he has no concept of the history of race relations in the U.S. THAT was a BIG no no.

Amazon gets a BIG GIANT FAIL.  You can follow the mob at twitter search’s  #amazonfail search. The story got picked up by the mainstream media, including the Guardian. I have some thoughts on this that I may post about later this week. Here is an excellent blog post that sort of sums up some my concerns on this issue very eloquently.

I have yet to jump on the Youtube bandwagon. However, I just bought an iPod Touch and thought I check out the built in YouTube application. I noticed that one of the most watched videos was President Obama’s weekly video address. How freaking awesome is this? Obama is doing a weekly address on YouTube. I love it! I imagine Roosevelt had the same idea with his “Fireside Chats.” Just another reason why I really like Obama. I like that he is trying to connect with people where they’re at.

I got up yesterday morning at 5:00 A.M. and I had to check my computer to make sure it wasn’t all just a dream. It all happened so fast last night! Such a difference from the last two elections. I almost couldn’t believe it when I heard McCain’s concession speech.

The Republicans had their asses handed to them! Talk about sending a message!

I am so happy.

It is so Awesome to have a President that we can all be proud of. I feel like all of the anger and fear I have felt the past 8 years has been lifted. It is such a relief. It’s not going to be easy but I know that Obama is going to be a great president.

I am so proud of America right now!

It is 8:29 P.M. in Spokane, WA and I just heard John McCain’s consession speech. WAHOO! If I didn’t have laryngitis I’d run outside and yell it at the top of my lungs! I’ll do it virtually instead.

I am SO HAPPY! This is a good day for the United States. We have voted in our fist African American president. I couldn’t be prouder of the American people.

Did you listen to Barack Obama’s speech this morning? I have to say, it kind of blew me away. I was kind of on the fence between Obama and Clinton (veering a bit more toward Obama). But after that speech, my full support is with Obama. I have never heard a politician speak so frankly and openly about an issue that is so apparent in our culture today, and that gets swept under the rug time and time again. We, as a country, needed (and need) to hear this. Race is still a touchy subject in this country. But it can’t be ignored and it is so refreshing to hear a politician actually address it. And in such a real way. Not a dodgey way.

I also liked that he didn’t turn his back on his pastor. He didn’t condone his comments but I like that he said that he couldn’t turn his back on him either. Here is the quote:

As imperfect as he may be, he has been like family to me. He strengthened my faith, officiated my wedding, and baptized my children. Not once in my conversations with him have I heard him talk about any ethnic group in derogatory terms, or treat whites with whom he interacted with anything but courtesy and respect. He contains within him the contradictions – the good and the bad – of the community that he has served diligently for so many years.

I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother – a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.

These people are a part of me. And they are a part of America, this country that I love.

I don’t know. I just really respect him for saying this. Like I said, it’s real.
