I played around with the Holgaroid again today. I am still trying to get the hang of it. The photos tend to come out underexposed. And I’m really not sure about that crazy vignette. I still want to play around with image transfer, though. That is the whole reason why I got it.
The theme for this week’s photo challenge is unfocused. I’m gonna go ahead and throw this one in the ring. Sort of unintentional but there you go.
I bought a Yashica Mat tlr camera yesterday from KEH.com, as was suggested by a couple of you. Thank you SO MUCH for your input and suggestions! I feel confident buying online from them, so thank you. I am SO EXCITED to play with it!

What a beautiful, fabulous day! The sun was actually shining! After our usual weekend trail run, Raf and I decided to head into Portland. He wanted to show me the 24 Hour Church Of Elvis. It’s really kind of silly, and certainly weird. I snapped an iPhone photo of it (above). It’s probably the result of somebody’s LSD trip. But entertaining for a few moments? Yes indeed. I loaded up my Holga with the Ektar film I bought a couple of weeks ago and wandered around downtown, snapped a few shots at the Saturday Market (which I’ve never been to). I am looking forward to seeing how they turn out. I chose colorful subjects because I was told that this film has highly saturated colors.
Oh I hope this nice weather holds out. I like it. I want more of it.

I’ve started scanning the Holga shots I took in Spokane and am really liking how they turned out! I will post a few my favorites here (from the color film).
This one is double exposed. I forgot to wind the film. I feel really silly for making this mistake. I think I even talked about making this mistake with my friends moments before I took the first one (which is the group shot of my friends sitting at the table). It makes me extra sad because I didn’t take any other group shots. However, I actually like the effect.

I have to admit that I am loving very much square format. I am not sure if I can express in words why I like it so much. It just feels good to me. I like composing within the square frame. I like the way it looks. So much so that I am looking to buy a real (as opposed to toy) medium format camera. Film, too. Not digital. Film. I am in love with film. I am not sure I want to go back to digital anytime soon, to be honest. So the question is, which one? Anyone out there have any suggestions?
