I haven’t posted in a couple of days. I apologize. I”ve been obsessed with knitting lately and have been spending lots of time over at black sheep. I wanted to take a moment to tell you that I watched The Manchurian Candidate over the weekend. The old one. It was great! I’ve had it on my netflix queue for a long time and finally recieved it after a “long wait.” The film is about a korean war hero who has been brainwashed by communists to carry out thier bidding. It stars Frank Sinatra, Laurance Harvey, Janet Leigh, and Angela Lansbury (yes that sweet old lady from “Murder She Wrote“) plays a particularily devilish villian 😈 .
The reason why I *love* older movies is because, since they didn’t have the technology that we have today, they really depended on story to create great films. This film is an excellent example of that. The plot is very suspenseful and is driven by interesting characters and interesting conflict between these characters. Another thing that I love about older films is the cinematography. Things such as camera angles, lighting effects, etc. One of my favorite parts of this movie is the dream sequence of Sinatra’s charater. The director used some creativity to set the tone for a very uncomforatble and confusing situation. If you’ve seen the movie, you will know what I’m talking about 😉 .
Great film. Go rent it today!
