I checked out the Bollywood film, “I Have Found it (Kandukondain Kandukondain)” from the library the other day and watched it last night. It’s a Bollywood adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. With the fantastical musical numbers and everything! (I LOVE the Bollywood musical numbers soooo much).
So. Incredibly. Romantic. Sigh. Oh my god. The last scene of the movie is heartwrenching. It’s bringing tears to my eyes just thinking about it. The male lead, Manohar, and the female lead, Sowmya have gotten in the fight to end all fights and it seems as if they have broken up. They break up through the chained door to her apartment. Sowmya goes up to the balcony to cry while Manohar leaves. He is walking on the street but up above you can see Sowmya on the balcony looking down at him, devastated. He stops and hesitates. He wants to look up but doesn’t know if he should. Then he does. And they look at each other and it is so sad. It is clear that they love each other more than anything else. They gaze at each other for a few seconds and Manohar looks like he is getting up his nerve to do something. And then he does it. He asks Sowmya to marry her. And she says yes. And then She turns around and runs as fast as she can downstairs, and he runs as fast as he can inside and they almost collide into each each other. But then they fall into each other’s arms.
A wonderfully romantic film.
