I just realized that I forgot to post yesterday about our little trip. Sorry about that…Busy day yesterday.

Anyway, after South Beach we drove a couple of hours North and ended up at Cape Lookout on the Oregon Coast, about 11 miles from Tillamook. We went there last year and I knew I wanted to come back. Oh. My. God. It is a beautiful place. It’s magically beautiful. It might be the most gorgeous place I’ve ever been. If you ever have a chance to visit the Oregon Coast I highly suggest stopping by Cape Lookout.

By this time I was kind of getting sick of camping. Taking down and setting up camp every single day blows. I won’t do that again. But we did end up with a really pretty campsite here. We had lots of privacy and shade and there was a little creek running right next to the site. We set up camp and then Raf went for one of his epic-long hikes and I went into town to get dinner (not-dogs to roast on the fire), hung out on the beach, went for a little hike, and spent some time reading H.P. 7.

Raf wandered back into camp and we decided to roast our “hot dogs.” Then we went back to the beach to watch the sun set.

That night we were sleeping rather peacefully when we heard some really scary growling noises. It was very scary. I don’t know what it was but it sounded like a rabid racoon. Whatever it was it was pissed. And it was right near our heads. When I rolled over it started growling and making really strange sounds – like it was fighting something. Then I heard it walk down and splash in the creek. Scary!

The next morning, after we took down our camp yet again, we drove up to the trailhead and hiked the Cape Lookout trail. The views were spectacular! Seriously, if you are ever on the Oregon Coast…

After our hike we headed up to the Long Beach Penninsula in Washington State, one of our favorite places. More about that interesting day tomorrow!
