Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    September 22, 2015

I’ve been told that today marks the day that there are exactly 100 days left in the year. So why not start a 100 day project? I love 100 day projects! I am currently doing a 100 day project in which I draw something everyday. But I thought that on this most auspicious of days it would be fun to start another 100 day project. Something that won’t be completely overwhelming. I have decided to post something everyday on this blog from now until the end of the year. Admittedly, my blogging mojo has been waning and I am hoping that this will get me excited about writing again.

So let’s start with this: I am taking a Photoshop class for work and here is something I did for the class. It was supposed to be an exercise in fake tilt-shift but It didn’t turn out as great as it was supposed to. It is best to start with a photo of something looking down on a city scene. The only photo I could find of mine in a hurry was this pinhole photo of Oregon City.

This was shot using my Ondu 35mm pinhole camera. I can’t remember which film. Probably Fuji Superia.

The class is awesome though! Today we learned how to restore old photos. I will share one that I fixed later this week.

  • Form does not differ from emptiness

“All cultures are mass illusions;  it’s a question of consciously shaping your illusion  to create a positive bubbling up of optimism, idealism,  enthusiasm, and creativity… And So how you create your world is something that you must take full responsibility for. You’re the one who creates your world.”

    Capital tourists

Along with my Zero 45, I brought my Terrapin Bijou with me on that pinhole adventure in Olympia with my fellow PNW pinhole enthusiasts. I had my Bijou loaded with Velvia from a previous pinhole adventure at a graveyard.

I caught this group just as a tour of the capitol building was underway. I love it when I can capture crowds in my pinhole photography. It’s hard to know what they will do in the seconds or even minutes that you are making an exposure which makes it fun to look a the final image when it comes back from the lab.

    Geeky bits:
    Camera: Terrapin Bijou
    Focal Length: 35mm
    Aperture: F/135
    Film: Velvia 50
    ISO: 50

    Olympia

Here is the last of my large format shots from the SCOPES meetup in June.

Incidentally, I printed some contact prints of one of these negatives last week. They didn’t turn out great, but I had fun and have semi-vowed to get in the darkroom more often. It can be months in between the times I make prints. It’s hard to get into the groove when I am having to re-learn how to do things each time. I should commit to making prints once a week.

    Geeky Bits:

    Film Delta Pro 100

    I remember…

    September 8, 2015

I remember summer days when I would ride my bike for hours and hours around the block.

I remember the smell of oil on our gravel road. The smell reminds me of summer.

I remember the big mud puddle in front of our house, filled by the sprinkler. We would concoct worlds in that puddle.

    I remember Star Wars.

    I remember Star Wars cards.

I remember the school across the street, through the field and over the fence. It was our world away from home where we could have contained adventures.

I remember the sweet scent of grass in the summer heat. Picking dandelions. Looking for four leaf clovers.
