Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

Roll 14 – more point and shoot fun

    May 2, 2014

Hey there! I’ve been away for awhile. I’ll update soon on my exciting whereabouts. But for now here is my most recent post on 52 rolls to keep you busy.

    Moni's avatar52 rolls

It’s been awhile since I have posted here. I have gotten a bit busy and haven’t had time to blog. I have had time to shoot, however.

Roll 14 I had fun with a point and shoot camera, again.

One of the things I love about my town is that it is quiet at night. I live in a small town about 45 minutes away from Portland and I love the stillness of it in the evenings. The downside of this is that there isn’t much to do here in on a Saturday night. Often, my husband and I will go for walks. Our walk on a past Saturday night in March took us to the local Goodwill – the only business (besides the bars) that is open until 9:00 on a Saturday night.

I made a beeline straight to the discarded camera section. It is a bin in the…

    Tea Ceremony – a poem

    April 19, 2014

    Tea Ceremony

On my mat in the temple
    The tea’s steam rises.
    It points the way.
    The path is not straight.
    Not easy.
    It silently winds around
    Nothing.
    Imaginary unseen
    Obstacles.
    Unseen mountains
    Where it meets
    Snowflakes
    Making their way down
    To earth.

Zigzag Falls – a look back to WPPD 2013

    April 17, 2014

Here is my latest post on Pinhole Obscura (been a long time)..

    Moni's avatarPinhole Obscura

In less than one week  I will board a plane for Amsterdam where, the following Sunday, I will hang out with the rest of the gang from Pinhole Obscura for Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day. To say I am excited is an understatement. This will be the first time meeting my friends in real life, and hopefully it will be the first of many times we are able to get together to play pinhole. We will feature a post on this blog sometime in May with pinhole photos from the day, so keep an eye out for  that!

I thought it might be fun to write a post about my entry for WPPD last year. A few weeks before WPPD I found a pinhole camera kit I had stored in my closet for years. I looked through the kit many times in the past but always became overwhelmed by the instructions and…

  • A letter to my grandmother found in her desk. A Pantoum.

    April 16, 2014

My colleague has encouraged me to read this poem at our library’s poetry slam tomorrow evening. I am very nervous. It is the first time I have shared my poetry in a public, real life, setting. I thought I would record myself reading it as a warm up.

You can read the poem here.
