Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    Roll 11 – anachronistic pinhole

    March 12, 2014

My latest is up on 52 rolls! Lots and lots (and lots) of pinhole!

    Moni's avatar52 rolls

I usually have at least two rolls going at one time: a roll of pinhole and a roll in another camera (like my Yashica or another 35mm camera in my collection). I don’t like having more than that going at a given time because I don’t like complicating things. But a roll of pinhole in addition to another active roll is reasonable for me.

Because I am so selective with my pinhole shots it takes me much longer to get through a roll. I started this roll in January and ended it the last week in February. Actually, to be totally honest, this is two rolls. I like to save up a couple of rolls to take in to get developed.

Sooo, with that preamble I give you my latest roll(s).

A fun, ego-boosting side note: 4 of these have made Flickr Explore in the past few days. I have…

Roll 10 – Cheap Thrills in Portland Oregon

    March 7, 2014

Hey There! I have a new post up on 52 rolls. I had fun playing with an old, cheap, Goodwil camera over the weekend.

    Moni's avatar52 rolls

On my walk home from work on Thursday I wandered into the Goodwill and headed to the back of the store where they keep the old film cameras. Every once in a while I like to drop in to see what’s there. This time I found an Olympus Accura Zoom XB 700. I polled Twitter really quick to see what the hive mind thought and didn’t get a very definitive answer. I decided to buy it since it was cheap. For cheap thrills.

I am wanting to by an Olympus XA so the brand name is totally on my radar and is jumping out at me wherever I go. Funny how that happens.

I decided to take the camera out with me on some errands in Portland. My husband had the PraKtica. We ended up at Pittock Mansion.

I kind of had fun using it. Though I didn’t…

Latourell Falls – Columbia Gorge, Oregon

    March 2, 2014

I have a new blog post up on Pinhole Obscura! I hope you like waterfalls.

    Moni's avatarPinhole Obscura

Latourell Falls is one of the Columbia Gorge’s most beautiful waterfalls.  It’s not my favorite , but it runs a close second. Or third (maybe behind Multnomah Falls ).  It’s easy to get to for those moments when  you have to get a waterfall pinhole shot RIGHT NOW.  I have shots of this waterfall with all of my pinhole cameras, as you will see below.  It’s fun to see how it looks at different times of the year. The first shot was taken in August on the hottest day of the year. The following two were taken more recently: this past January.

This waterfall is loud and powerful. It is the only one in the Gorge that drops directly from a cliff above (as opposed to tumbling and meandering its way down).  The drop is somewhere between 214 – 249 feet. So yeah. Loud when it hits the pool down…
