Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    .

Saturday’s blog post left me with all sorts of emotions and weirdness. I need to get it off of my home screen. I am not in the mood to write lately so here is a photo for you. I took this at Portland’s Japanese Gardens a few weeks ago.

I’ve been doing very well with my goal of shooting a roll of black and white film a week and developing it. This particular roll is the discontinued Fuji Neopan 400.

  • The Steam Clock

    October 2, 2013

Look! A post on Pinhole Obscura about a clock in British Columbia!

    The Steam Clock

I was determined to visit as many Atlas Obscura places as I could on my vacation to Vancouver B.C. I managed three. One of the three was the Steam Clock in Gastown.

Funded by the neighborhood merchants, it was built 1n 1977 as a monument to the city’s first downtown core. According to the Atlas Obscura site, it also served another purpose: placed over a steam grate above gas pipes, it kept local homeless from sleeping on this particular warm spot (due to the gas pipes under the city that heat downtown).

I find this fact fascinating because while I was shooting this photo a man was standing next to the clock giving its history. He was very knowledgeable but as he was speaking I looked at him and thought, “something isn’t right here” and noticed his tattered clothing. At the end of his spiel he asked us to…

  • Christ, Mohamed, Buddha.

    September 29, 2013

Christ is the one who saved me
    From myself
    But not from his followers.
    Mohamed came to me once
In a Denny’s late at night
    And made me question
    The existence of Christ.
    Buddha arrived
    During the time of grieving
    And invited me in
    With a gentle voice
    That told me to
    Sit down
    Shut up
    And be.

  • Weekly Photo Challenge: from lines to patterns

    September 27, 2013

    Seattle Fountain

I think I might be a little late in the game for this (last?) week’s WordPress photo challenge. But here it is anyway. I took this with my pinhole camera in Seattle earlier this month. I am humbled that it made Explore on Flickr. That is always a nice (if not mystifying) ego boost.
