And now you know what a bad plant parent I am. I try, though. Really I do try.

Alright. I got really sick of knitting the Diamond Lace Shawl and, despite being so close to the end, I cast on a different project. This is Talia from the latest Knitty. After a false start, I do believe I am making good progress. The yarn I am using is Berrocco Ultra Alpaca, which I have not used before. It is truly a lovely yarn. Very soft. And I love the rich, dark brown color. I am looking forward to wearing this vest. I have wanted a brown vest for a long time but have not found the perfect pattern. I saw this one and thought it was pretty close. I am knitting the large this time (42″). I usually knit the medium, or the size closest to 38″. This usually works out well because I am a very loose knitter. However, I actually took the time to knit up a swatch and my gauge was spot on. So I went with the actual measurement (over my t-shirt) since I plan to wear this over a shirt of some kind.
On a completely different path, I am looking for projects for the Silk Garden I used for my first Clapotis (Ravelry link). I think it’s going to the frog pond. I never wear it. And that’s lots of nice Silk Garden going to waste. I feel kind of bad, because it is a beautiful garment, but it’s just sitting in my closet. I think I’m going to make something more functional, like a simple cardigan. Probably one from the Barbaara Walker book, “knitting from the top.”
I’m also having these same thoughts about Klaralund (Ravelry link). I loved Klaralund for the first couple of years but now I have grown tired of her. I don’t wear this sweater at all and when I do I am annoyed by it. The yarn itches me and I hate the sleeves. They are too loose and big and they get caught on everything. Yet, when I see this on people in Ravelry I think it’s an adorable sweater. What do you guys think? Should I frog? Have you made Klaralund? What do you think of it?

Ella’s Supper Club, April 2008. Spokane, WA I’ve had kind of an interesting week. Here are the highlights:
- I went to my first massage therapy appointment on Monday. Admittedly, I was extremely nervous about it. I came very close to canceling it. But it turned out to be a good thing. I don’t know why I didn’t start sooner. I definitely need it since my muscles are all clenched up from the accident.
- I started the Abs Diet this week. I have no idea if I’ve lost weight because my scale needs new batteries. But I feel good! That’s important, right?
- I enjoyed getting caught up on the Mystic Creations Death Faking incident on the Ravelry Forums. Wow. Even in the knitting community there are shysters. How sad.
- I enjoyed this little joke played on someone in Twitter. I have no idea who any of these people are but it was entertaining nonetheless.
- We bought a Nintendo Wii! This was kind of an adventure. First of all, we searched online and found that you can’t find them anywhere online for sale. Well, I should say anywhere reputable. So we started calling around. The Best Buy on the Northside said (after they hung up on us the first time we called and asked), “the truck was just pulling up and they would be on the floor in an hour. First come first served. And there are already two people here waiting.” So I jumped in the car and drove the half hour to get there. When I got there the ones that were placed on the shelf had already been taken. Someone else who was waiting said that the sales person was in the back to see if there were more. So I waited there, like a Lemming, for him to come back. He finally did, with three of them in his arms. I totally lucked out. I have no idea how else one would find a Wii in this town. We just happened to call when the truck was pulling up. We love it, btw.
- An unexpected person friended me on Myspace. I think that is all I will say about that for the time being.
- It snowed this week. Quite a lot. I keep thinking that Spring HAS to come, right? I mean, Spring always comes. It’s the way the whole Seasons thing works. This is what is helping me keep my sanity. That Spring will come. It just has to.
This is one of my one-day weekends so I need to go because I have to cram two days of stuff into one day. It’s super fun.
Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

a bit of Ano Nuevo came home with me, originally uploaded by CraftyMoni.
This week has been really busy for me. I wanted to continue my list of “100 things to do before I go” and I just have not had the time. So I will get to it next week.
Here is close-up shot of a fossilized rock I found at Ano Nuevo beach in the Bay Area when we were there in January. The patterns in this rock are absolutely amazing. I definitely plan on using this as a photography subject again in the next couple of months (The Earth months).
