Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    Cups

It’s a Bloomsday tradition to drop your cup on the road after you drink it up. It’s amazing they can clean this all up so quickly.

    My Bloomsday time this year:
    3:13:17

sigh. I was walking it with some other people so It’s considerably slower than last year.

Next year I am going to run it!

  • Bloomsday!

    Clothes in trees 3

We walked Bloomsday yesterday and had a fabulous time! I walked with my Mother-in-law and my Mom. I am very proud of both my Mom and MIL but especially my MIL for doing it! The farthest she had ever walked was 2 miles and she walked 7.5 miles yesterday. Yay!

If you would like to see the whole set you can see them here.

  • culture of fear

    April 27, 2007

This caught my attention today, thanx to Cara at January One.

Kazim Ali: Poet, Performer, Teacher, Yogi
On April 19, after a day of teaching classes at Shippensburg University, I went out to my car and grabbed a box of old poetry manuscripts from the front seat of my little white Beetle and carried it across the street and put it next to the trashcan outside Wright Hall. The poems were from poetry contests I had been judging and the box was heavy. I had previously left my recycling boxes there and they were always picked up and taken away by the trash department.

A young man from ROTC was watching me as I got into my car and drove away. I thought he was looking at my car which has black flower decals and sometimes inspires strange looks. I later discovered that I, in my dark skin, am sometimes not even a person to the people who look at me. Instead, in spite of my peacefulness, my committed opposition to all aggression and war, I am a threat by my very existence, a threat just living in the world as a Muslim body.

Unbelievable. Sigh. How sick are you of living in a culture of fear? I am so sick of it.

Poetry is dangerous. By Kazim Ali.
