Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • Montserrat through a pinhole

    Montserrat through a pinhole

    May 29, 2016

I can honestly say that Montserrat is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. And this is saying a lot because I am often impressed by the beauty of a place. But this place was utterly stunning in so many ways. It is the kind of place that has to be experienced to understand.

I mentioned my small epiphany while I was there standing before the Black Madonna. The oddest thing about that. I didn’t mention in my original post that I did, indeed, try to snap a picture of her as I was walking up toward it. I was caught up in the mob mentality. The moment I snapped it was the moment I realized my folly. I decided to instead be in the moment, rather than an observer of that moment through the lens of a camera. When I went back later to look at the photos the photo I snapped of the Black Madonna was blurry! My husband’s photos of it were as well. The Black Madonna wasn’t having any of our touristy photo snapping.

When we were there it was cold and we didn’t dress for the weather. Rafael was also coming down with what would later be a really awful stomach thing. So we didn’t spend as much time there as we would have liked. As we were traveling up the mountain we noticed several paths that would have been interesting to walk. Someday I will return to walk them. And I will dress for the weather.

    Monserrat

Camera used was a Terrapin Bijou. Film was Ektar.

    Six word Saturday

Stitches. Not what I expected today.

    —–

I had to take my husband to urgent care today because a pointy rock stabbed him in the shin on his trail run. 😦 we managed to salvage the day by going for a nice walk and shooting pinhole. Here is a photo I took with my phone.

  • No Paparazzi – Pinholeday contender #3

No Paparazzi – Pinholeday contender #3

    May 27, 2016

OK, it’s decision time. My decision is between this one and “Balloons For Sale.” Which one should I choose for my pinhole day contribution? Personally, I like this one the best. But I also really like “Balloons For Sale.”

I like this one because the moment was kind of cool. When I was taking this the newpaper vendor covered his face. I’m not sure if he was playing around with me or if he truly didn’t want his picture taken. Either way, it was a moment of connection with the subject, which doesn’t really happen very often with me because my subject is mostly landscape.

I will decide over the next couple of days and upload it to the gallery, so check there to see what I decided. The deadline is May 31, so I really need to get on this!

    Geeky Bits:
Camera: Terrapin Bijou, Incher configureation (25.4mm)
    Film: Ektar 100
    Exposure time: >5 seconds

Hey now now, we’re goin’ down down And we ride the bus there and pay the bus fare

    May 26, 2016

“Hey Now Now” by The Cloud Room played on my iTunes on my walk home so I thought I’d share for today’s “song of the day” post. I think this is one of my all time favorite songs.
