Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    Day 2 – jetlag

    April 19, 2016

We finally boarded the plane and upon takeoff, I fell asleep. A few hours later I woke up in Barcelona. We made the epic journey to our hotel room and decided to go for a walk. First we went up to the roof to check out the pool.

Then we hit the streets. Our goal was to go to the beach. Here are some things we saw along the way.

I almost bought some “ham in a cone.”

And now I need to sleep. I’ve dozed off 5 times writing ulthis.

    Day 1 – JFK

    April 18, 2016

I am currently sitting in JFK airport in the middle of an 8 hour layover, trying to find things to occupy myself. We thought about going into the City but decided we didn’t have enough time. So far, I spent $15 on a slice of pizza and a bottle of water. And I bought this little coin purse for my extra Euros from  my last visit across the pond.

Here is a photo. This is what a $5 bottle of water looks like, in case you were wondering!

Today I am off to the airport for a two week trip to Spain and Dublin. I am currently writing this post from the past. Over the next couple of weeks you can follow my adventure here, if all goes as planned with internet access.

Here is a drawing I did a few weeks ago while waiting for my film to develop. I have yet to scan the negatives from these rolls!!

    Nightclub, by Billy Collins. #nationalpoetrymonth

    April 16, 2016

Thursday night was the annual poetry slam at the library where I work. For filler, I read a few favorite poems to the audience. And before I read them I practiced reading them into my iPhone. And because I also need filler on my blog, I am posting one of them here today: Nightclub, by Billy Collins.

This is such a beautiful poem. I love the imagery. I feel like I am right there in the nightclub by the time I have finished reading the poem. You can find the full text of it here.

    April 15, 2016

I woke up this morning to a stream of Flickr notifications on my phone. When I checked to see what the fuss was about I saw that overnight this particular photo made Explore. I honestly have no idea what it is about this photo that would cause it to be in Explore but I guess that is a good enough reason to make it a photoblog photo.

Incidentally, this was taken the day my friend Peter de Graff was visiting! So maybe he has the magic touch.
