Hurray for Progress!

A fun story about finding a message in a bottle from a hundred years ago.

LOL. A part of me wants to say, “good for them!”

This is absolutely horrific. My good thoughts are with the people of Italy.

I am so pleased with Obama. He’s doing an excellent job.

Hurray again for progress!

Amanda, over at etc has started a list of “100 things to do before you go” and has invited her readers to join in. So I am! She has her list divided into smaller lists of 20, which I also like and am going to shamelessly copy. So here are my first 20:

  1. Visit Pompeii
  2. Visit Florence and it’s museums
  3. Visit Rome
  4. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to just spend an extended amount of time in Italy. Like several months. Or maybe a year.
  5. Learn Italian
  6. Learn to paint in the sumi-e style
  7. Learn more about Zen (and maybe practice it if it suits me)
  8. Learn to play guitar
  9. Learn to play the banjo
  10. Read all of the Newberry Award winners.
  11. Learn the art of glass blowing.
  12. Get paid to be a photographer (travel photography would be ideal)
  13. Write a damn good poem
  14. Hike the Appalachian Trail.
  15. Live at the ocean (again)
  16. Learn to crochet
  17. Make a fancy quilt like “Dear Jane
  18. canoe down the Little Spokane River
  19. run a marathon
  20. be my own boss

Stay tuned for the next 20… In the next few days… Or week…

A few things going on in my life right now. I have finished writing my culminating papers. I will find out next week if I have passed.

I haved decided that, no matter what, Raffa and I are going to Italy next summer. In fact exactly a year from now. May of 2004. I bought a travel book on Italy and have looked at it and already decided where I want to go. I want to go to Florence, then Rome and I also want to visit Pompeii. I am so stoked. I need to get a passport and I need to learn Italian!

note from the future 10.20.2011: still haven’t gone to Italy.
