The hotel that we stayed at was right on the Riverwalk. From our window we could see the Alamo.

We also had a view of the gorgeous gothic-looking hotel.

The Alamo was really interesting. While we were on a tour, an old Texan told us the story of the battle of the Alamo. It had me on the edge of my seat. I found out that one of Doug’s ancestors, Jonathan Lindley was one of the Alamo defenders. The part of the story that really makes me think is that the wives of some of the defenders were in a little room in the mission, trying to keep out of the fighting. When the hand-to-hand combat ended up in the mission the wives were in the next room, listening to thier husbands getting killed. How horrible.

The conference was good, too. Our presentation went well, and I got to listen to lots of other really interesting presentations. While I was there, I found out that a fellow San Jose State student won the “Best Student Paper” award! And, I ran into another San Jose State student that I had classes with who was also presenting. I was very proud of my Alma Mater!
