You know what I HATE? Fox news. I hate they way they distort the news and spread misinformation. And it makes me mad that people watch Fox news (or Faux news, as the bloggers at MR call it) and think they are getting real news. I especially can’t stand O’Rielly. He really puts the misinformation out there. Even when his guests try to tell him otherwise, he still puts his spin on the truth.

Let’s take the 9/11 commission report as an example. If you’ve been following some of the threads on this blog, there was a gentleman who gave me some quotes from the 9/11 comission report that were supposed to prove a point that there was a connection between Bin Laden and Saddam. However, just reading the next paragraph on the same page that he quotes from tells us that there is no real evidence of this connection. I found this very interesting. If he got into the commission report to read it and give me the quotes, did he even take the time to read the next paragraph? That’s when I realized that, perhaps, these were quotes taken from some “talking points” from somebody else. I had a feeling Fox News was the culprit. I went to Fox news and read a few transcripts from the O’reilly Fa

ctor. Sure enough, O’Reilly is thowing out these quotes to make his point.

It is stuff like this that makes liberals believe that conservatives don’t think for themselves. Not that I’m accusing any one of that. But you really have to wonder, don’t you? I accused this person of lying, and I was wrong. It’s actually the media outlet, Fox News that lies to these people. And Mandrake is right, that is much more insidious.

Now, to be fair, I don’t know if this gentleman even watches Fox news. But it is painfully obvious that he didn’t read the 9/11 commission report. If your going to quote something, at least read the actual document being quoted for yourself. Don’t take somebody elses word that the document says what it does.

Incidentally, you can get the report for free here.

Sedition is always insidious. I’m watching Fox News right now and what topic are they debating the Hair of Bush and Kerry. Guess who is going to win based on the Fox News hard hitting analysis. Bush will win, because Kerry brought up the fact that he wasn’t bald. So bald men are going to vote against him.

Lucky for me I don’t watch Fox News often! To ease your mind, I didn’t get those excerpts from O’Reilly and I’m usually very careful not to cite a “conservative” source to avoid straw man attacks. You are correct that I have not read the entire report, just excerpts.

ManDrake: OMG. I can’t believe this was thier debate. It really is insulting to thier viewers.

InsaneIdiot: I am so glad you don’t watch Fox News or O’Rielly. Thanks for proving me wrong, again. And I am being serious. I am really relieved to know that there are conservatives out there who do not take these news programs to heart. I had to get on my soapbox after I read those O’Reilly transcripts. 🙂
