Yahoo! News – Cheney, Edwards Trade Sharp Attacks on Iraq
“Mr. Vice President, you are still not being straight with the American people,” Edwards told Cheney, adding later: “I don’t think the country can take four more years of this kind of experience.”- John Edwards
No, Mr. Edwards. we can not!
Just watched the debate. Thought Edwards did pretty good…But Cheney had some pretty good jabs. He (Cheney) is so god damn much smarter than Bush, but then the bar has been lowered THERE. But it is quite obvious that, while smarter than Bush, he is also as deluded as Bush, too.
My thoughts on Cheney: 1. He is the most boring human being alive. When he was giving his closing statements my eyes literally glazed over. And didn’t it seem so empty? 2. It seemed as if he didn’t take Edwards very seriously. He seemed put out by being at the debate. He had an attitude that exuded “I am too good to be here. This is beneath me.” 3. Again, he repeated the same stump speech and talking points. Over and over (although not as much as Bush did) It’s all they got, people. It’s all they got. 4. I talked to my Mom a few minutes ago and she said that she nearly fell over in her chair when he mentioned Tom Foley’s name. Tom Foley (former congressman from Spokane, and former speaker of the house before Newt Gengrich replaced him – after he was voted out of office. [stupid!]) was a liberal democrat. It’s kind of a slap in the face for Spokane Democrats when Cheney invokes the name of Tom Foley.
Edwards did a pretty good job..I think that he did a good job of answering the questions and also responding to the misinformation that Cheney was throwing out there. He made sure the Kerry/Edwards platform laid out. He did a good job of clearing stating were the Bush Admin is wrong.
The thing that’s good about these debates is that everyone is watching them. And I’m specifically talking about the neo-cons who are so narrow minded that they might not see a Kerry or Edwards speech, or they might not take the time to see where Kerrry/Edwards stand. These are people who see the world throught the filter of Fox News. These debates are great because these people can, at least for 90 min., see Kerry and Edwards unfiltered.

I thought Edwards did a very good job of standing his ground. I also think he demonstrated quite clearly that he is up for the job if something were to happen to Kerry. I’m very interested to see how the town hall format will play out for Bush and Kerry on Friday. One thing that worries me though is that Gallup is “hand picking” those for the audience. Since they have been skewing toward Bush lately I dread to see who they pick for the Democrats to be in the audience. I guess time will tell.

I totally agree! Edwards did a great job last night. I can’t wait for the town hall meeting. It will be interesting to see how Bush handles real questions from real people. Except that Gallup is picking the audience members…ugh.

I’m looking forward to the Friday debate. I hope that I can get home from work on time to watch it… I hope that President Bush is able to make it to the debate, after all, his job is hard. He’s got a very hard job, a lot of good people are working hard to make sure that he can get there on time. What an idiot, how many of us would go to a job review and tell our supervisor that “this job is hard”. I repeat, what a moron…oops, I’m sorry, I called him an idiot earlier, but you have to realize that typing and thinking at the same time is hard.
I have never met someone that I would consider to be a hard worker who ever said that they had a hard job. How could the President of the United States of America tell the American people that his job is hard while collecting his healthcare, paycheck, and security for life when those of us that he is representing are paying higher insurance costs, higher taxes, (yes higher taxes, nearly every local community in the country is broke and raising taxes because of this administration), yet so many Americans take their $300 tax break check that they have received the past 2 years and follow Bush… In the meantime, the price of heating our homes increases by over 20 percent, our insurance costs increase by over 20 percent, (even more, if the higher deductibles and co-pays are considered…) Whats going on here…This Country is so divided right now that peaceful demonstrators are being arrested for demonstrating…Whats going on here?? I’m beginning to consider voting for the Kerry/Edwards ticket just to get rid of GW.
I only wish that this was still a free Country where a third or forth party candidate would be allowed to be on the ballot in every state. I think that we need to get through this election and whatever happens, its time to get rid of the two party system that is being forced down our throat.

Ben 😆 that was funny. I totally agree with your comments on the two party system. It sucks. And I also agree with you that right now we just need to get through this election. We just need to get Bush out of office. That man has done more to ruin our country and the world for that matter. I just wached Farenheit 9/11 again last night and it reminded me (not that I needed reminding, mind you) of the poor people we have fucked over in Iqau. The prisoners in Abu Graib prison? They were regular men of Iraq. Civilians. They weren’t Al Quaeda. They were sheep farmers and college students. Brothers and Husbands and sons. Some were sent there because they had guns in thier possession. We have screwed the Iraqi people over. Big time. this is so not about liberating Iraq. They aren’t liberated by any means of the word. They are living in fear.
But to go back to your point, Bush must go. That’s it. After that the third parties need to build themselves up to be via competition to the other two parties. And I think they will. But I think that right now, everyoone just needs to band together to get Bush out of office.
