Yahoo! News – Video: Abducted Aid Worker Pleads for Life
Margaret Hassan, the kidnapped director of CARE International in Iraq (news – web sites), wept and pleaded for Britain to act to save her life in a video aired Friday. “Please help me. This might be my last hours,” the gaunt Hassan begged, shaking with fear and burying her face in a tissue.
I’ve been extremely distressed by this all morning. I heard about the video on the morning hews and they played the part of the video where she saying “these might be my last hours.” Ever since I heard this I’ve had a stomachache. I don’t even know what to say about it. Except that I hope this stops very soon. I am so tired of watching innocent people getting beheaded. It is damn disturbing. Those poor people. This poor woman..What she must be going through. I can’t imagine. It’s truly a nightmare. I hope that she survives this. I hope they take pity on her because she is a woman and she has been helping the Iraqi people and is a citizen of Iraq. May God help her.

She’s an Irish citizen too, which makes me so sad, as we were not participants in the occuptation of Iraq. I feel as if our neutrality has been compromised in this situation, but anything we say or do will make it worse. Ken Bigley had a claim to Irish citizenship – and an Irish passport – and it didn’t help him. 😥
Great blog by the way.

Hi Kate,
Thanx for visiting! This whole thing sucks. I didn’t know she was an Irish citizen.
