“Old” St Assam’s church build in 1712 this is across the road from “new”Sst Assams’ built in 1859 – just to further the discussion on the relative meaning of old..

Wait. In your neighborhood you have a church that was built more than 200 years ago? You just went on a walk around your neighborhood and took a picture of a church built in 1712. See, that just kind of blows my mind.

It is all relative, they have found evidence of a ring fort or Rath dating to about 570AD that starts at this crunch and runs into the village proper a couple of hundred meters away. They have records suggesting that there was a church originally built on the site in 1609. It is not even an old town by Irish standards. The city of Dublin is more than 1000 years old. See all relative….

Wow. how interesting! again, it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around. I think I need to go back to Paris because the four days I was there I was so distracted by how old everything is. It must be interesting to live somewhere that is so old and not have it just completely freak you out (like it does me). I can’t help but think about all of the people that were there before and all of the stories, etc.

I am genuinely delighted that you find our local history so interesting, I don’t really think too much about it so it is nice to turn my brain in that direction occasionally.
