Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • Weekly Photo Challenge: My 2012 in pictures

    December 28, 2012

I love this challenge!! I really enjoyed looking at all of the photos I produced this past year and it was hard to pick just one for each month. I also realized that I need to get out there again with my Yashica Mat. Damn. I love that camera. lots.  2012 was the year that I really embraced film photography. I really wanted to learn how to develop my own film but never got around to it. I plan to, for sure, in 2013.  I can’t wait!

I have much more to say about 2012 but I will do it in another post. I will let the photos do the talking in this one. (click on the thumbnail for bigger)

  • What I was doing at noon on Christmas

    December 27, 2012

This was the daily prompt for Christmas on the Daily Post.

At noon today, take a pause in what you’re doing or thinking about. Make a note of it, and write a post about it later.

Raf and I were Driving home from Long Beach, WA. We were exactly at the interchange on I-5 and  I-205. I was specifically thinking about the Historic Columbia River Highway. We were listening to a song that reminded me of Santa Cruz. I didn’t write down the name of the song and now it completely eludes me. It was a terribly rainy and cold day and visibility was awful. I was really looking forward to getting home. I was also very happy, having just had a really fun couple of days with my favorite person.

I also snapped a photo of this exact moment in the car.
    High noon

  • The worst Christmas song ever written

    December 24, 2012
    Just awful.

A couple of years ago the Mr. and I were having a discussion about Christmas songs and we observed that there are some truly awful ones. For example, Jingle Bells. It’s all fine and dandy for the first few stanzas but eventually it takes a turn for the  awful:

    A day or two ago
    I thought I’d take a ride
    And soon Miss Fanny Bright
    Was seated by my side
The horse was lean and lank
    Misfortune seemed his lot
We got into a drifted bank
    And then we got upsot.

    A day or two ago,
      The story I must tell
I went out on the snow,
      And on my back I fell;
      A gent was riding by
      In a one-horse open sleigh,
He laughed as there I sprawling lie,
      But quickly drove away.

    See? Awful!!

Anyway, we wondered what the worst Christmas song ever written was. We searched the intertubes and turned up a lovely little ditty about a bratty little girl wanting a hippopotamus for Christmas. Everything about it is terrible.
