Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    Carnival 🎡

    July 10, 2017

During the weekend of Mountain Festival there is usually a carnival happening. It’s a block away from the library and I like to walk up there and shoot some pinhole, which I did this year with my new Reality So Subtle. The pinhole photo above was taken with my Ondu. I think Ektar was used.

The carnival always brings interesting folk into town. It’s been slightly sketchy the past few years but I think there is a new company this year. It seems a little nicer and the rides look safer.

    Here are a few snapshots.

    Sunday runday

    July 9, 2017

Today I was scheduled for a 3 mile run, according to my plan, but i kind of thought that was ridiculous. So I ran an easy 4 miles at my half marathon pace, which is a 13 minute mile (which also seems ridiculous to me but I’ll just go with it and trust the running plan). Here are some snapshots from the trail.

  • Neoliberalism

    July 8, 2017

35653792756_9c29cf8c23_k.jpg“I often think that Neoliberalism is what lovelessness looks like as policy. … it looks like water pipes leaking lead in Flint. It looks like foreclosed mortgages on homes that were built to collapse. … It looks like trashing the beauty of the planet as if it had no value at all. It is, much like Trump himself, greed and carelessness incarnate.”

    – Naomi Klein, No Is Not Enough.

I finished reading “No Is Not Enough” by Naomi Klein. Very highly recommended. In fact, I would say it’s a must read, especially if you are bewildered by current events. She does a good job of giving historical context for our current situation and what exactly got us here. It is a major wake up call. It is not an easy read, but a necessary one.

  • Sandy Mountain Days Parade

    Sandy Mountain Days Parade

    July 7, 2017

This is the week of Mountain Festival in Sandy. It is kicked off with a parade on Thursday night of Mountain Festival week. I’ve lived here for 7 years and I only started attending the parade 3 years ago. The first year I moved here I walked in the parade with the library but the library decided to stop marching in the parade after that year.

It’s kind of a dorky parade but it’s also really fun. It’s very small town, which I love. The locals put out their chairs days in advance in order to save their seats, which is kind of quirky but also sweet.

Here is a pinhole photo I took last year. Pinhole and parades don’t really go well together but I still try every year. I did this year, as well. 🙂
