Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • Faux News outdoes itself

Did I ever tell you how much I HATE Fox News? You aren’t going to believe thier latest antics. They posted a story that attributes quotes to Kerry that he didn’t make (I know, what a surprise). Comments such as “Didn’t my nails and cuticles look great? What a good debate!” You can read the article here. Fox News needs to go down in flames. It really just needs to go away. This is just so beyond outragous. I don’t even know what to call it. I can’t believe they try to pass themselves off as a viable source of news. The Center for American Progress discusses this in today’s Progress Report. Joshua Micah Marshall blogged about it, as well. Check it out and then write to Fox News and tell them to fire this Cameron numbskull who claims to be a journalist!

  • Mount St. Helens Sees Second Long Tremor

Yahoo! News – Mount St. Helens Sees Second Long Tremor

As scientists warned that an eruption of Mount St. Helens appeared imminent Sunday, eager tourists camped out along park roads, hoping to catch a glimpse of the seething volcano without being overcome by ash and smoke.

Argh! Why are you there? Do you think this is a game? That freaking mountain will kill you! It seriously surprises me how stupid people are. The article has a picture of a little girl with a gas mask watching the mountain.

I was around for the eruption of Mt. St. Helens in ’80.  I remember that day like it was yesterday. My younger brother and me, and all of the neighboorhood kids, walked down to the local 7-11 to stock up on Laffy Taffies and other yummy candies. When we got home, the ash cloud was descending upon our town (Spokane, WA). Then it rained ash. We had to wear masks over our faces for a long time. Months, it seemed. I really hope this eruption isn’t a repeat twenty years ago. These tourists better hope it’s not.

Neighborhing yard signs for George W. Bush and...

I’ve gotta agree with the folks at Daffodil Lane. Kerry is kicking a**! He is a smart, intelligent man. Bush kept repeating the same thing over and over…It was almost uncomfortable to watch.

The scary thing is that I think his tactic worked, well for some. I am watching c-span right now and there are these drones calling in saying exactly the same thing Bush said! Ugh!

My husband just turned the channel and someone is interviewing Karl Rove. God. And the spin begins.

  • Another View: Why I will vote for John Kerry for President By John Eisenhower

    September 30, 2004

The Union Leader and New Hampshire Sunday News – 30-Sep-04 – Another View:
Why I will vote for John Kerry for President

The fact is that today’s “Republican Party” is one with which I am totally unfamiliar. To me, the word “Republican” has always been synonymous with the word “responsibility”, which has meant limiting our governmental obligations to those we can afford in human and financial terms. Today’s whopping budget deficit of some $440 billion does not meet that criterion.

This is an interesting article written by a Republican, and the son of Republican President, Dwight D. Eisenhower. He talks about why the current “Republican” party (aka neo-cons?) is not really even really republican.

Last night on C-Span I watched this discussion/debate between Al Gore and Bob Dole. I have to say that while I totally disagree with everything Dole said, I really respect him. He can have a political discussion with another democrat without any sarcasim, backbiting, or arrogance. And Al Gore was the same way. It was amazing to watch. You could tell that these men actually liked each other. Dole even stuck up for Gore when an audience member used his time to ask a quesiton to attack Gore. It was really refresing to see this kind of behavior out of two politicians. After four years of the Bush administration I was starting feel a lot of negativity toward Rebublicans, but I don’t think it’s the republicans that I should be negative toward. I think that true republicans are just as sick of Bush as liberals are. He isn’t even representing them.
