Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • I Passed!

    May 6, 2003

I should have written this yesterday. I got my culminating result letter in the mail. R- called me at work to tell me that I had received it. I made him open it up and read me the results over the phone. I passed! I am so stoked! I can now focus on getting a librarian job. Freedom! I have a pretty good chance of getting the science librarian job when it opens up.

  • been a long time-take two

    May 3, 2003

A few things going on in my life right now. I have finished writing my culminating papers. I will find out next week if I have passed.

I haved decided that, no matter what, Raffa and I are going to Italy next summer. In fact exactly a year from now. May of 2004. I bought a travel book on Italy and have looked at it and already decided where I want to go. I want to go to Florence, then Rome and I also want to visit Pompeii. I am so stoked. I need to get a passport and I need to learn Italian!

note from the future 10.20.2011: still haven’t gone to Italy.

  • getting closer

    March 28, 2003

Getting closer to finishing my culminating papers. Finished first drafts last week when I was sick, in between viewings of Lord of the Rings. For my birthday I received the four-disk extended version of the movie. I watched the actual move once, and then I watched the version with the director’s voice-over and the actor’s voice-over. Don’t ask my why the obsession. But it was all good.

  • Elizabeth Smart and War Protestors

    March 13, 2003

Bill O’Reilly has reached new heights. On his show this morning he was complaining that Elizabeth Smart, who was found ALIVE yesterday after being kidnapped from her own bedroom at knifepoint 9 months ago, should have been able to escape her kidnappers. I mean, she is 15. She is old enough to have the wherewithal to elude her kidnappers and escape. The scary thing is that listeners were calling in and making comments like, some people want to be held hostage. Look at those who join cults. Or, there was a case of a girl down in Florida, she was six years old, was tied up in the basement of her attackers, and she escaped. Why couldn’t Elizabeth Smart?

Are you people insane?!? I can’t believe I live in a world where people like this exist! People are not just happy that a little girl who was kidnapped at knifepoint, who must have gone through hell for nine months was found ALIVE! There have been too many stories of kidnapped children being found murdered. The Elizabeth Smart story has a happy ending. Why do the Bill O’Reillies have to question good? Why do they have to analyze and judge the actions of people, and expect them to do things the way they think things should be done.

This is the same guy who has been saying on the air that he is going to publicly call Iraqi War protesters ‘bad Americans if they continue to protest the war when we start dropping bombs on Iraq in the next few days.

    What about this:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

    – Amendment 1, Bill of Rights, Constitution of the United States.

It’s called the Bill of Rights. The United States Constitution. I suggest everyone in America read it. We have a right to disagree with what our Government is doing. We are, in fact, GOOD AMERICANS for doing that. We are exercising our civil rights.

  • Stress

I am so stressed right now. I should be writing my culminating papers. But, alas, I procrastinate. I am so stressed that it is eating my insides. My stomach is killing me. I think I am doing okay. I started the papers over the weekend and I am not at a loss for anything to write about. I just have to do it.

I applied for a gov docs job at Eastern Washington University of all places. Put my resume in the mail just now. We’ll see what happens. I really never had any intention of moving back to Spokane, but things have a weird way of working out sometimes. It wouldn’t be so bad at all to move back, but I will really miss it here. Raf and I went for the most incredable hike yesterday starting at Wadell creek on the coast. It was absolutely breathtaking.

Some excitment happened yesterday evening for Raf. I dropped him off at Pogonip to go for a run in the evening. It was starting to get dark, which wasn’t very good. He ended up seeing a mountain lion. actually, the mountain lion was getting ready to attack him! He was far enough away to see what was going on and he turned around and sprinted back to the car. That is very scary.

Note from the future 10.20.2011: What in the world was drawing me back to Spokane? Why? On earth? Did I think I wanted to move back?
