Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    Mt Hood Or Mars

    December 30, 2016

    I inadvertently took a couple week hiatus from my blog! The holidays kind of got all up in my business. But I remembered that tomorrow is New Years Eve and realized that I usually post something retrospective on NYE. And why not also post a photography post on the eve of NYE. So here you go.

    This is another from my Mt Hood Or Mars series, taken with my zero image pinhole camera up on Mt Hood using Lomochrome Turquoise film.

    Mt Hood Or Mars?

    December 17, 2016

    A few months ago I happened to be in Blue Moon Camera and Machine and decided to pick up some Lomochrome Turquoise. I wanted to save it for something special. When my husband and I decided to hit one of our favorite hiking trails on Mt Hood on a beautiful autumn day, I knew that was that day for the Lomochrome. So I loaded it up in my Zero 2000.

    The results are crazy weird. I will post more of them over the month.

    December Postcard Swap

    December 13, 2016

    There is only two more days to sign up for the December post card exchange! The last postcard exchange of 2016.

    This month I received a post card from my friend Gretchen. She is one of my fellow #PinholeMayhem crew. We’ve had lots of fun shooting together over the past couple of years. She is an amazing photographer. Please visit her website to see more!

    The postcard that she sent me is one that was chosen by the BBC for an article about pinhole photography. It’s beautiful and I’m going to frame it.

    If you are interested in getting awesome art in the mail, sign up below! Visit the Postcard Swap page for more details.

    One Pinhole A Day – Day 23

    December 9, 2016

    I am finally getting some results back from my Pinhole A Day project and thought I’d share here. This is day 23 – a visit to the grocery store a few days before Thanksgiving.

    I plan to post most of these photos on my photography blog, so if you are interested in seeing more, follow me over there!

  • let me be an instrument of peace

    let me be an instrument of peace

    December 3, 2016

    I am not a Christian or (for that matter) a Catholic but I read this prayer from St Francis this morning and I liked it so I am sharing it.

    Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
    Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
    Where there is injury, pardon;
    Where there is doubt, hope;
    Where there is darkness, light;
    Where there is sadness, joy.
    – St. Francis of Assisi.

    I feel like this is especially relevant today with all of the hate that seems to be pervasive lately. I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the practice of cultivating kindness. I feel like the world needs more kindness right now.
