There is really cool graffiti in Paris

I am on my way back home to Sandy, sitting in the Philadelphia airport. I had such a fantastic time. One of the highlights of my life. A trip I will remember for the rest of my life. Now I need to go back because there is so much that I missed!

I will post more photos and try to post stories in the coming week.

One thing about Paris that was really cool was the graffiti. There is lots of really cool street art all over the place. Rafael knew about most of it. It was fun find it scattered all throughout the city. We think this might be Banksy and I think we also saw a Banksy piece at Notre Dame.

Today was all about famous paintings

Our original plan was to go to Versailles today be we nixed that idea to, instead, go back to the Louvre and the Musée d’Orsay. It was a hard decision but we really felt like we needed to take in more of the museum Mecca. We had a guide book with us that had a tour of the super famous works and I am so glad we had this. We missed so much the first day because we wandered around. It was nice to have more focus today. I saw Venus de Milo! Among a whole bunch of other famous things. I am stoked.

I mentioned that we also visited the Musée d’Orsay. we wanted to find a Manet painting, (Olympia) we missed yesterday (found it!). We looked for the photography collection but never found it.

Finally, with very tired feet, we trekked over to Champs-Élysées and snapped a photo of The Arc de Triomphe. I think I could’ve lived my life without visiting this street. Not really my thing. There were people standing in line to shop at Abercrombie and Fitch. I so did not get it. At all.

Tomorrow we go home and I am sad. I had the best time.

Eiffel Tower

Continuing the b&w Hipstamtic theme I’ve got going on: here is a photo of the Eiffel Tower. Today we went to the very tippy top of the Eiffel Tower. I was really worried that my fear of heights would prevent me from this but I was totally fine. It wasn’t scary at all. We took the elevator all the way, as opposed to climbing the stairs. My legs are still tired from climbing the spiral staircase of Nortre Dame yesterday!

After the Eiffel Tower we went to the Musée d’Orsay. It was a nicer museum experience. Less people today and easier to wander slowly through and study the paintings. It was mind-blowingly awesome to see some of my favorite paintings in the flesh, to see the brush strokes and everything.

I am sad that tomorrow is my last day here. I want to stay longer. I love it here. The culture, the people, the scenery, the history, everything. There is so much to take in!

My posts here are less detailed than I was planning. Part of it is that I am either too exhausted to write or on the go. Also, it is hard to write about something you are right in the middle of. Paris deserves more reflection, so I will write some more reflective posts when I am home.

Today was filled with all sorts of adventures! It started out terribly though. I woke in the middle of the night with a migraine and no ibuprofen. Raf went out at 3 am to find a pharmacy open but no such luck. I had to suffer through it all night. I think it was the worst pain I have ever endured. Whenever I’ve had a migraine I have caught it early enough with medicine so I have never experienced how incredibly painful they can be. Until now. I will ALWAYS bring it with me forevermore.

When the stores opened Raf bought me some and it worked it’s magic in ten minutes and I was off and running. We started with Nortre Dame. We toured the inside of the church and then climbed the bajillion steps to the top of the tower. The view was AMAZING. I snapped some photos of gargoyles.

We then gave ourselves a quick lesson on how to use the Metro, then we used it to go to Montmarte. We took a walking tour featured in our travel book. It was the highlight of our trip so far.

I am super exhausted and still trying to recover from not feeling well this morning, so I’ll cut it short for now.

The Louvre

We landed in Paris at around 7:00 this morning. I tried to sleep on both flights with not much luck. So when we finally made our way out of the airport and to our hotel I thought, “hmm. Maybe I will try tricking my body into thinking it’s morning time 7 am, and not crazy-late-stay-up-until-you-crash time (1 am). It so did not work at all. I wandered through the Louvre like a spaced-out zombie, each hour my body screaming for sleep. We enjoyed our day there though! This place is unquestionably amazing. This city is too. I just need to get a good night’s sleep tonight so I can enjoy it properly tomorrow.
