Yahoo! News – Congress Announces Deal in Schiavo Case

As a deal in Congress was worked out to have federal courts decide Terri Schiavo‘s fate, emotions swelled outside the brain-damaged woman’s hospice room Saturday, with protesters arrested after they symbolically tried to smuggle in bread and water on her second day without a feeding tube.

For the love of God! Let this woman die in peace!!!!

I am just so mother-fucking pissed that the Federal Government is involved in this! WTF?!? Why? Well, come to think of it, the answer boils down to The Exterminator: Delay. God Damn it. God damn Delay.

Terre posted a comment on another post regarding this subject. I have to whole-heartedly disagree. However, I do appreciate the politeness conveyed in the comment.

Terre seems to have an issue with the husband. The husband has abandoned this woman. The husband needs to let Terri’s parents take care of her. Terre states, “why should he care what happenes to her, unless he did something to contribute to it?” Well, let me try and explain this in way that is related to my own experience.

My own husband has told me, over and over, that he never, ever wants to be kept artificially alive. Not under any circumstance. He means it. I am his wife and I know him better than anyone else in the world. So I know he means it. He has never written it down. Christ, we are in our thirties and we don’t have kids. We’ve never thought about writing this sort of thing down. He just assumes that if he ever is in this situation that I will respect his wishes because he trusts me.

Terri Schiavo’s husband was put in that horrible situation 15 years ago. His wife was only 26 when she had a heart attack and was put in this vegatative state. She told him that she would never want to be kept alive and he wanted to respect her wishes. Unfortunately, her parents can’t let go of thier daughter. They are selfish. They don’t give a shit about what she would have wanted. They just don’t want to let go. They are holding on to some silly notion that other people have recovered from a similar situation. I seriously am skeptical, but that’s another rant.

It has been 15 years. Terri’s husband has moved on. He formed a loving relationship with another woman and has even fathered a child with her. Can you blame him? Well apparently some neo-christians do. But put yourself in his position. You would move on, too. You would. Don’t deny it. However, he can’t divorce his wife because he still cares about her and wants to carry out her wishes. He believes so strongly in his wife’s wishes that he refuses to settle for money. He doesn’t want to hand this over to the parents because he believes in what his wife told her before she became a vegatable. She did not want to be kept alive like this. Her wishes are important to him. So he stays married to her.

I would do the same damn thing. I know that my husband would never, ever, want me to keep him alive artificially. He has made this very, very clear. As difficult the descision is, I would respect his wishes.

I flipped on the news this morning and somebody was talking about this issue. I think he was a professor at a university…I couldn’t tell you who this guy was, but what he had to say was so true. This happens ALL THE TIME. People have to make this descision with thier parents or grandparents everyday. My Father in law had to make this descision with his mother. She was being kept alive by dialysis. He had to decide to stop the treatment. Some people are kept alive with a respirator and a desicion has to be made to pull the plug. You dont’ think dying this way is as painful as starving? It’s all bad. Death is not pretty. That is why doctors give patients drugs to make the experience less painful for the patient. It happens all the time. The God Damn Congress didn’t intervene and tell us to not stop dialysis on my husband’s grandma! That would be ridiculous! It is a family decision. It’s a difficult, horrible descision, but it is a personal thing. I am just utterly sickened that this Schiavo case has gone this far. Congress should not be involved. Damn these parents for not letting go of thier poor, suffering child. She did not want this. They have exploited her and it is sick.

Yet there was no written contract to have her killed by her husband if she was ever in this situation. Come to think of it, I think your quality life is pretty bad. I should pull the plug on you.

Christian, is that a threat? Are you saying you are going to kill me? It’s clear that you think that “pulling the plug” is murder. I take your comment as a threat. Maybe I should report your IP address to the authorities. In fact I think I will. In fact, I just did.

There was a verbal agreement, therefore no written contract. The woman was 26. She didn’t have a living will. Did you have a living will at 26? I sure didn’t.

How do you know what my quality of life is? Who the hell are you to say such a thing? Actually, my quality of life is excellent. In fact, I just came back in from a walk down the street TO THE BEACH.

Actually, I don’t even know why I am even responding to you. It’s clear you are a fucking lunatic. I noticed that you got here by surfing the “liberal bloggers” ring. Your a fucking pathetic piece of shit, you know that? What do you do, go out and troll around liberal blogs and give them shit? Well aren’t you just rich. Do me a favor. Take your piece of shit, redneck ass and get the hell out of here, bitch.

The man Michael is a murderer, a clever executor who has diverted what he has to have hidden to cast into the hot issues where the bunch of idiotic lawyers and judges have spent their time to accumulate the times to be paid, togather with the hypocrate medical experts to enhance their reputation to charge their ridiculous medical bills or fees. The man Michael is such farfetched clever shit who knows how to use those ego centric idiots to defend what he has done. He is after all a criminal. All what he has been doing and done is to cover up what he has done to her and he has been scare hell of Terri, should he get conscious. He is a far clever guy than the bunch of hypocrates of Judges and medical so called doctors. You just recollect which kids of your friends or classmates at your young age become the Judges and doctors?

My personal opinion is, that Terri is not being artificially kept alive. She is breathing on her own, not relying on a breathing machine. If you feel she is being kept alive artificially, that means we all are. We are breathing on our own. The only difference is, Terri can’t feed herself. Could Chistopher Reeve feed himself? Look at it this way. Babies (Infants) are not able to communicate with adults; therefore, we must feed them. Any human being that is living needs nourishment. Terri’s husband is selfish and needs to live his life with his new family and divorce Terri, so her parents can take care of her. And please tell me, what is the difference between providing Terri with intravenous pain medication and food. There is none! I hope that Michael is prepared to suffer the way he is allowing his wife to suffer. And how can a woman stand by his side knowing that he has a wife that he is willing to starve to death. She will be held accountable just like him. I pray that Terri’s family finds peace.

Lovey, your personal opinion doesn’t matter. Sorry. Are you a neurologist? Are you a doctor? I have read lots of articles written by medical doctors on Terri’s condition the past few days. The thing is that her cortex is liquefied. It’s gone. It is her brain stem that is allowing her to do the most primal of functions such as breath, open and close her eyes, etc. You can’t compare her situation with Christopher Reeve because Christopher Reeve wasn’t in a persistant vegetative state. It’s like comparing apples and oranges.

I get your point about the babies and us needing to feed them, etc. However, it doesn’t matter what we all think. This is not what Terri would have wanted. She explicitly stated that she would not want to be kept alive in this state. Courts have ruled, over and over, that she did, indeed say this before she entered this state. so our opinion doesn’t matter. What matters is what she would have wanted and this is not it.

Micheal Schiavo is not being selfish. He is the least selfish person in this situatoin, I think. He is not divorcing Terri because he believes so much in her wishes that he is making that sacrifice. It is the parents that need to just let her go. Let her pass on. It’s what she wanted. Doesn’t anyone care about what she would have wanted?

I’m not sure what exactly your point is when you ask, “what is the difference between providing intravenous pain medication and food?” My point is that this happens all the time. People have to make these difficult descisions all the time. It’s not like Teri Schiavo is the first person who is going through this. Doctors deal with this on a daily basis. They help the people die with as little pain as possible by giving them pain killers. Giving her food would keep her alive. If the point is to allow her to die (as were her wishes) then you don’t give her more food. You allow her to pass on. And you help her to pass on in a way that is as comfortable as possible.

I think the name on that first post says it all. I went to Catholic school for 13 years, but I must have been absent on the day they taught one of Jesus’s most precious lesson, “Do what I say or I’ll kill ya.” Nice. And very Christian of you, Christian.

I have been reading the comments and I just want to add that I think Moni is very ignorant person….gulable enough to believe this mans false face…..Terri was aware and if you had done so much research you would be aware that the doctors have signed statements that say if her husband would not have DENIED her the proper therapy in the beginning she would have gotten better….she had a feeding tube at mealtimes…..they took it away so they starved her……he was always out for the money she got for her settlement of 1.2 million when this all happened to her…….you really need to do more research cause it has been a long journey that he had to continue so he wouldn’t look bad….but the real people the smart people can see through it all like glass so why starve someone whom is aware……….when we feed convicted murders everyday? I pray for Terris family……her parents and siblings………her husband I pray he will suffer……

Caroline, I thought about deleteing your post but decided to post it anyway so everybody could see just how “christian” you are. You “pray” that her husband would suffer? wow. That is real Christian behavior.

It looks like you are doing your research on Fox news and you, in fact, are the one who is being gullible.
