This picture puts the tragedy in perspective for me:

Thanks to Frank from iFlipFlop

Tattered Coat also has some photos and info.

I am so saddened for New Orleans. I’ve never been there, but have always wanted to go. It’s heartbreaking to see this happen to such a beautiful city.

One question..has Bush visited the site yet? I haven’t been reading as much of the news as I should, so I dont know. But I haven’t heard that he has. I guess vacationing is more important, if that is indeed the case.

    Y’know, I don’t think he’s been there. That’s a damn shame.

He hasn’t been there yet, but he did go back to Washington to “monitor the situation” whatever the hell that means.

No, he felt it was more important to attend a photo-op in Southern California. A celebration in honor of WWII servicemen. Not on the actual commemoration day, mind you. That and playing golf. Yep, he’s got his priorities in order…

    Hi Moni,
I was just in New Orleans in April for school. I am so shocked!!!! I stayed in a hotel one block from the French Quarter and I have been to some of the places I am seeing pictures of on the news. I can’t believe it seems like all is destroyed. I just hope all of the wonderful people I met at our finance center are ok. The people there are so nice. I just happened to be ther during Jazz Fesival so I had so much fun. One night while I was walking around the French Quarter I met an 18 year old homeless kid. I sat and talked to him infront of this old church for a long time. He told me his parents had died and so he was left to live on the streets. I hope he is ok. Anyway, I can send you some of the pictures I took while I was there. Just shoot me an e-mail.
