Tehran street crossing

First of all, you need to know that the law states that you HAVE to stop for a pedestrian when they are crossing the road at an intersection. It doesn’t matter if there is a crosswalk painted on the road. If there is an intersection and a person is crossing the road, you stop for them (duh).

That said, when you have done your job as a driver and have stopped to allow the pedestrian to cross the road and the person crosses and everything is fine and dandy, don’t yell out the window, “Thank You,” Implying that the pedestrian was being impolite. What is that all about? Are you that egocentric? Why do you expect to be thanked for doing you lawful duty? Why not just allow the pedestrian to cross the road and then move on your merry way? Why piss off the poor pedestrian who is merely trying to make her way to work without getting killed by one of you?

In short, just do your effing job and move on. Don’t expect to be thanked for driving like a normal person.

That is all.

  1. I’ll forward this to the Philadelphia drivers, too. They honk and try to mow you down…thank you isn’t a phrase that gets used much in this city. Um…thank you for this, though.
