I was walking by the New Book Cart at the library and saw the most awesome book. It’s called Wool Pets by Laurie Sharp. Inside are instructions for making the most adorable figurines made out of wool and created with a felting needle. I saw the instructions for the Border Collie and I knew I had to try it. So on my way home from work I stopped at JoAnns and bought a felting needle and some black roving. I already have a truckload of white roving.
This is what I completed that night. The body of the creature. I may have added some of the black fur. But, really, this little guy only took a matter of a few hours. It’s far from perfect, but not bad for a first time needle felter!
Oh, I made this little guy because my mom has a a border collie named Sam. I had this all finished and ready to give to her on Saturday and she loved it!
I had lots of fun doing this! I’ll probably make some more of these in the near future. If nothing else, they will make great gifts.
