Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

I scanned my Larch Mountain fog shots last night and I am happy with them! Here is the film version of the “steps” photo. You might recall that I posted the iPhone version here. I think the film version has a lot more depth. But, of course I have to say that because more time, effort, and money was spent making the film version and if the iPhone version is better part of my soul would die.

  • Flickr Time Machine

    July 13, 2012

    7.14.2009
It’s the Flickr Time Machine! This time we are going back to 2009. And it isn’t July 13th. It is July 14th. But check this out!! I STILL haven’t used this film. I don’t know why. I am afraid of it. I am afraid I will mess it up. SIGH.

I think this photo marks the beginning of my current interest in film photography. I found this old camera in my “things” and it piqued my curiosity. It was given to me when I was very young, I’m thinking 8 or 9 years old. My mom’s uncle gave it to me. I totally cherished it. It came in its original box which I stored with all my  favorite things. I would get it out and look at it every now and then. I found it again at my mom’s house when I lived in Spokane and it led to me going as far as buying film for it. I even did research to see if I could get it developed and that is how I discovered the existence of Blue Moon Camera And Machine! It turns out (and I had NO IDEA at the time) that in 2012 I would spend lots of money there getting medium format film developed.

Speaking of which, I have a crap-ton of film in the mail to me (from Blue Moon!). I will scan it as soon as it arrives. Probably tomorrow.

Also: Look at that! I bought Portra 160! I  SO fucking need to shoot that roll  of film already!!

And: Look! I blogged about it way back when!

  • That so did not work for me

    July 12, 2012

The “washing my face with honey” experiment is kaput. After two days of it my skin freaked. out. I think I might have had an allergic reaction, actually. Which is interesting and makes me wonder if I should even be EATING it.  I should know better by now. Claims made by people on the intertubes that are based on ancient myth (Cleopatra bathed in honey!) are not a reason to try something (duh). I, however, am a sucker for good narratives.

So that is that. In case you wanted to know.

Last night a friend got out her Goddesses Knowledge Cards and we did an on-the-fly (not really knowing what we are doing) reading. We decided the first card we chose would be the past, the second card is the present, and the third card is the future. This is what I chose:

    Past – Hathor.

    Present – Etain

    Future – Demeter
