Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • I washed my face with honey this morning.

Yep. I did. I am always on the lookout for healthy, DIY beauty alternatives. I hadn’t heard of this type of use for honey until a couple of days ago when a friend on Facebook said she was using honey as a face wash. Apparently it has all sorts of beneficial properties. So why not. I’ll try it and report back on how it goes.

Incidentally, my first experience with it this morning was weird but good. It, obviously, was very sticky but my skin feels very soft and smooth today. The breakout I’ve been fighting all weekend seems to be clearing up. So, yay!

If you are interested in trying it, I am using this blog post at Crunchy Betty for directions.

  • Mt. Hood

    July 9, 2012

    20120709-123251.jpg
Yesterday Raf and I took a drive up the mountain. Our destination was Lost Lake but we never made it. We ended up on the gravel roads deep in the Mt. Hood National Forest. It was beautiful. However we didn’t fill our gas tank before we left and I was having visions of us running out of gas in the middle of nowhere and, then, being attacked by bears, or starving to death, or other manner of horrible things that might happen when one gets stranded in the wilderness. So I convinced Raf to turn around. We were bummed that we didn’t make it to Lost Lake but we’ll go again. Now that I know what kind of drive to expect I will make sure we are prepared.

I will admit that I am a bit of a worrier. I get that from my mom. It kind of bugs me that I am like this. But on the other hand, it is also good to follow your gut, which is what we did yesterday.

On the way home we stopped on Lolo Pass to snap some shots. I brought my Yashica, loaded with some Ilford black and white film. Should have some interesting results! At least I hope so. The photo above was snapped with my iPhone and edited in Snapseed.

  • Slave to the Circ Desk

    July 8, 2012

Yesterday everyone in my town turned in books and so I helped out at the Circulation Desk most of the day. Here is a time lapse video of the last hour of the day. The color looks weird because I used the Cross-Processing filter on You Tube. I also used some random music that they offer, as well.

Also: I need to smile more! And be less squinty-eyed. And my hair is at a jack-ass length right now (Ok, I’ll stop beating myself up now).

    Experimenting
This was a fun photo to look back on. I posted this on Flickr on July 6th 2007 but it was taken on July 5th 2007. It was my foray into night photography. I would go on that summer to do more of it. Here are a few examples. Ah! And it looks like I even blogged about this photo, as well.

That was a fun summer! It was the summer I hooked in with my friends from the Spokane Flickr group.

It is really fun to look back at these old photos. I was using my point-n-shoot Cannon Powershot at the time. I totally used the crap out of that camera. The photos that I took weren’t half bad, if I do say so myself. However, I was more than ready to move up to a DSLR when I finally did. And now my interest is in film photography. Weird how things go full circle. Looking at these, though, makes me miss my DSLR. I should dust it off and take it for a spin this weekend.
