Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

I’m officially on vacation! (well, as of tomorrow). We are going to be camping in Oregon for 3 days then staying a night in Long Beach. I will not have any access to computers. So no blog updating until I get back. I will have lots of great pictures to share, I’m sure.

    Have a great week!

The substructure of the I-35W Mississippi Rive...

A major bridge collapses in a major metropolitan city and our President plays the “blame game” during his speech? Did you listen to that tripe?

As soon as I can find it online I will link to the speech. It’s utterly disgusting, the way he politicized the situation.

    grrrr…..

Update: I’m kind of annoyed. I got an annoying comment to this post and wondered what the deal was. So I went back to the article at CNN and saw that it links back to this blog post. That annoys me. It would be nice if they told me they were doing that. The last thing I want is every freaking troll commenting on a two sentence blog post that they clearly don’t read. So I got rid of the link. Go to CNN for for info on this story.

Note from the future (9/15/2011): This post is about the collapse of the 1-35W Mississippi River Bridge on August 1st, 2007.

  • Abundance: A novel of Marie Antoinette

    August 1, 2007

I finished reading it over the weekend. So now I can focus solely on H.P.7. But I wanted to say a few words about this book. It’s wonderful. Sena Jeter Naslund is such a fantastic writer. It is exquistely written. It is a book written for women. Kind of in the same vein as books by Jane Austen and Edith Wharton.

I have had a fascination with Marie Antionette for many years. I don’t even know what spurred this fasicnation. But I have always been interested in learning more about her. I think that the death of her and her husband Louis the XVI is rather tragic and, for some reason, I am fascinated by tragic stories. This retelling of the story of Marie Antionette does not dissappoint in the tragic department. It ends with her death at the guillotine, from her perspective. The entire story, in fact, is written from the perspective of Marie Antionette. Some of the more grisly events (for example the horrible death of her friend the Princesse de Lamballe) are relayed to the reader as Marie Antionette would have recieved the information.

A fascinating story told by a very gifted writer. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

    Moonrise

    July 31, 2007

Raf took this one. He had the photography bug while we were out camping. He took some really cool shots so I thought I would post one here. This is a picture of the full moon rising over South Skookum Lake in the Colville National Forest.

We had a wonderful time this weekend. It was really nice to get out of Spokane. Really, really nice, actually. We camped overnight. It was really quiet. I heard an owl and I saw bats at dusk flying toward the lake to go catch bugs for dinner. When it got darker we went down to the dock and stargazed. Then we watched the full moon rise. Lovely.

  • Reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Not reading it edition.

I haven’t even touched H.P. this week! Haven’t even cracked open the book. I think I am going to finish reading Abundance (which is an excellent book, btw) first.

Raf finished it last night. He stayed up all night reading it. I finally had to ask him to go read it in the living room at 3:00 because the light was keeping me awake. It must be good. He couldn’t stop reading it. I heard that from some others at work. When you get to page 200 or so you have to keep going.

Now I’m thinking that Hermione and Ron die. Maybe even Harry? sigh. I hope not. I almost don’t want to read it because that would make me very sad.
