Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

White House expresses confidence in top Bush aide – Yahoo! News

The White House broke its silence and said on Tuesday that President Bush continued to have confidence in his top political adviser, Karl Rove, despite his involvement in a scandal over the leak of the identity of a CIA agent.

So Rove is going to walk, if Bush has his way. Bush is a friggen criminal, too. I’m so tired of this corrupt administration. I’m tired of this “stick together no matter what” mentality of the Republican party. We have a person who committed a felony, risking the security of a CIA agent, and possibly thwarting an important mission, at the side of the President, and the Repugs are sticking by him, for the sake of partisan politics. Just because he is a republican, they are going to allow him to get away with this. Aren’t they getting sick, yet, of associating with this corruption?

  • Another Friday, Another FR10

    July 8, 2005

I think I need a little break from all of the mayhem.

    1. The Circus Animals. The Ocean Blue.
      The Ocean Blue
This album reminds me of living in New York, way back, too many years ago.
    2. Triple Trouble. Beastie Boys.
      To The 5 Boroughs
      Huh. speaking of New York…
    3. Wiseblood. King Swamp. It’s Post Modern.
I can’t even find this album on Amazon. It this compilation CD I bought, God, about 11 years ago? I don’t even remember where I got it. Probably at Streetlight or some other used record store.
    4. Happy Jack. the Who.
      My Generation: Very Best of
A good song to play today. “they couldn’t prevent Jack from being happy.”
    5. Long day in the Universe. The Darling Buds.
So I Married An Axe Murderer: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
    6. Flipside. Everything but the Girl.
      Walking Wounded
    7. Fortunate Son. Creedence Clearwater Revival.
      Forrest Gump
    8. Squealer. AC/DC.
      Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
    9. Don’t Stop. Fleetwood Mac.
      The Dance
    10. “Berceuse” from “the Firebird Suite”. Lori Singer.
      Short Cuts
Ah, the Short Cuts soundtrack. This is probably my favorite of the motion picture soundtrack albums that I have. Depressing way to end this, tho.

    Well..there you go.

I love doing these Friday Random 10s. I always get a song that I haven’t heard in a long time that reminds of of something from the past. or the present. Today’s mix was a good example of that.

  • From Filmmaker in Los Angeles to Iraq Detainee – New York Times

    July 6, 2005

From Filmmaker in Los Angeles to Iraq Detainee – New York Times

Mr. Kar, the son of an Iranian physician, came to the United States when he was 2 and was raised partly in Utah and Washington State, where he played high school football. He attended college in California, received a master’s degree in technology management from Pepperdine University, worked for years in Silicon Valley and served in the United States Navy and the Naval Reserve.

Nonetheless, Mr. Kar’s relatives and their lawyers said they had been utterly stymied in trying to learn his fate despite repeated inquires at the Defense Department, the Justice Department, the State Department, the allied forces in Iraq and the offices of two United States senators.

This horrible! American Citizens are being held as prisoners without a trial. Unbelievable.

Yet, as I write those words, I am not surprised. I’m not even really outraged. Actually, I feel numb. I feel cynical because nothing is going to be done about it. This American Citizen is going to rot in jail and nothing is going to be done. Bushco is going to go on, treating Iranian-Americans like this in the name of fighting terrorism.

    It is so frustrating.

Look at what some of our wonderful neo-con friends are sporting on thier trucks:

To make matters worse, this photo was, apparently, found at a truck parked at a Gay Pride parade.

I found this on the blog Ornicus. He has an excellent post on the danger of this kind of violent “joke”. From his post:

We may comfort ourselves with the easy dismissal of such “jokes” as mere crude humor. But they are a signal of something much deeper, and much more dangerous.
