Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • CARE Hostage Faces Transfer to Al-Zarqawi

    November 2, 2004

Yahoo! News – CARE Hostage Faces Transfer to Al-Zarqawi

The kidnappers of aid worker Margaret Hassan threatened to turn her over to al-Qaida-linked militants notorious for beheading hostages unless Britain agreed within 48 hours to pull its troops from Iraq (news – web sites), Al-Jazeera television reported Tuesday.

I was wondering what was going on with Margaret Hassan, and it looks like things are not going well. This is horrible. I hope they release her, but these are stubborn people. What a horrible, horrible, depressing mess.

  • Happy Birthday

    Happy Birthday to you
    Happy birthday to you
    Happy birtdhay to my love
    Happy Birthday to you!

Yes, today is my hubby’s birthday. He’s 24 😉 today.

We had a fantastic day. I took the day off and we drove down to Big Sur to a little park called Andrew Molera State Park. It was a beautiful, absolutely gorgeous drive down Highway 1, along the coast. Usually it’s foggy and chilly down toward Monterey, but today it was gorgeous! It was around 70 degrees or so, but it felt hotter from the sun reflecting off the ocean. We went for a little hike to the beach.

As we drove back up the coast we stopped along the way to take a picture of the Bixby Bridge, which was made famous by Jack Kerouac in his book Big Sur.

So tommorrow we vote…I don’t think I have to tell you that my vote is going for John Kerry. And I hope he wins in a landslide, although, I wish I could feel more confidant about that. There are lots of people who think he will. I’m just not so sure. I certainly hope he does. And he needs to so that there is absolutely no question.

I will check back in tommorrow. Hopefully Kerry will be the President elect by then.

Have a good evening. I am off to order pizza because that’s what the mister wants for his birthday dinner. Hey, that’s fine with me :). I leave you with this view of the rocky Big Sur coastline:

  • Viva Bush?

    October 29, 2004

There’s been something I’ve been itching to bitch about…So why not a Friday afternoon? Am I the only one who is bothered by the slogan for the Bush re-election campaign?

I remember seeing these signs scattered among audience members durning the RNC and was annoyed by them, along with thier cult-like chant of “four more years”. Then I saw a table in the Santa Clara University Mission cafe with a “viva Bush” sign pasted to the front, with two lonely girls sitting at the table, waiting to sign repubs up to vote (fat chance at this school).

This slogan irritates me…It just is so cultish. It’s creepy. Viva Bush….Ugh. God forbid.

I think, however, that it pretty much sums up the neocon base that supports Bush. These people are blind followers. They must be. It’s the only thing that explains thier decision to back such an evil administration.

  • Yes, he is a president we can be proud of.

Daily Kos: Bush’s one finger Daily Salute
Look what I found on the Daily Kos website. it’s a video of Bush flipping the camera off while he was governor of Texas.

hmmm. And I get crap from *certain people* for using profanity in my posts…Well, look what your beloved president does.

Right there back at ya mr. president.

This brings me to a little documentary that I watched over the weekend. “Journeys with George” by Alexandra Pelosi (yes she is the daughter of Nancy Pelosi). It wasn’t F911, as far a quality goes, but it was good and well worth watching. The main thing that I got from it was confirmation. Our president is nothing but a friggen frat boy. Now, this is all fine and dandy. I mean, they guys seems like he’s fun loving. He certainly attracts people to him. He seems nice enough, at least on the surface. But he’s a frat boy.

On the other hand we have Kerry. Everyone complains about Kerry being too serious, and blah blah blah, etc. And I would agree with that. The guy is deadly serious. His attempts at jokes tend to fall flat. However, after 4 years of mr. frat boy I am more than happy for somebody serious for a change. I couldn’t give a rats ass if Kerry can crack a joke. I couldn’t give a rats ass if he isn’t someone I “could have a beer with” (not that Bush is either). I don’t want to be out having a beer with my president. I am hiring him (when I vote for him) to be the leader of the fricken free world. That is something to be deadly serious about, don’t you think?
