Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

    Film swap with Espressobuzz

    March 30, 2016

I am very behind on posting photography related things! I am going to try to catch up in the next couple of weeks. I have been going through a developing and scanning frenzy lately, which helps!

Sometime toward the end of last year I did a film swap with my buddy and fellow pinhole photography enthusiast, Hank. You may know him as Espressobuzz on the intertubes.

I shot my photos around Sandy and at a secret waterfall location. And he shot his in Seattle, redscaling beforehand. Here are a few of my favorites. You can see more here. I am working my way through some rolls that he sent me so watch this space for more in the future!

You can read his post about this on 52 rolls here. Go visit his fantastic Flickr stream here.

“You never have to regret or apologize for nice.”

    –Matthew Thompson, aka @twinlensreflux

I have been coming back to this conversation I had on Twitter this past Friday. Very wise words to live by. I feel like this is everything I’ve been learning about the Precepts distilled down into a nice tidy sentence.

P.S. Look at this amazing rainbow I saw the other day!!

Last fall Raf and I decided to visit the Maze At The Pumpkin Patch at Sauvie Island. It was a hot, very sunny, bright day. I had a roll of Cinestill 50 itching to be used so I loaded it into my Olympus OM1n. There are very few 50 ISO days in Portland so I figured I should take advantage before the film expired.

We didn’t bring any water and we got lost in the corn maze. But we survived. Here are the photos to prove it.

How do I feel about Cinestill. Hm. This was my first try with the 50 ISO and my second try with it altogether. I guess it’s ok. I think my problem is that I am not a big fan of color 35mm. So it has taken me awhile to warm up to these shots. But looking at them months later I like them.

  • Six Word Saturday

    Six Word Saturday

    March 26, 2016

    This week’s Lesson: everyone’s a stranger. *

    —————————-

*In a good way. I am doing Precept Study at my zen center and the precept we worked with this past week is: “Do not dwell on past mistakes — create wisdom from ignorance.” In a book I’m reading the author interprets this precept with the statement: “I take up the way of meeting others with openness and possibility.”  I like the idea of meeting everyone with a blank slate. Because, honestly, the person standing in front of you is not the same person who stood before you yesterday (even if they appear to be).
