Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • Running Update

    Trail Running at Wildwood Park

As per my usual introduction to these posts: It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged about my running. This time it’s been about five months.

I am happy because I’ve been running at least 3 days a week consistently since that last post. I haven’t had any injuries. My plantar fascitis still acts up but I run through it and if it is really bad I ice it by rolling my foot over a frozen fruit juice container (you know what I’m talking about, right? Those tube-like things you buy in the frozen food section). I also wear (and this is really sexy) a Strassburg Sock. As dorky as it looks, it has helped tremendously.

I have started training for a 10k. I had been putting it off and putting it off and then all of my running friends started kicking ass with their running and it totally motivated me to kick my training up a notch. Eventually I am going to run a half-marathon, but first I want to start small. I have to find some 10k runs in the area to work toward though. This one on the Wildwood Trail in Portland looks fun (except I just noticed that it is on September 3rd when I will be in Paris. Sigh.). I’ll have to do some more research.

Honestly, though I don’t know if I am a race runner. I love my alone time when I run. I relish it. I don’t know if being around all of those people will do much for me. The only reason I would do a race is, merely, to say I’ve done it. Is that a good enough reason? I don’t know…

  • Interesting Observation

    June 28, 2012

    20120628-140636.jpg

For the past week I’ve been eating really healthy, and not even really spending a huge amount of effort on it. Well, with the exception of Sunday. I have been making juice in the morning and I try to eat a salad for lunch (this doesn’t always happen). The main thing is that I havent’ had as much sugar. Actually, my sugar intake has dropped down to almost zero. I have a teaspoon in my coffee in the morning but that’s it (for the most part). Yesterday I had a piece of that there cake that you see in the photo above. It is from a bakery in town that is delicious, Tollgate Bakery, and I love everything that they make. However, when I took a few bites of this cake I almost vomited. There was so. much. sugar. I had to throw most of it away. This just doesn’t happen with me and cake. I never throw cake away, ever. There might be hope for me! I may, yet, end this sugar addiction! yay!

  • Doh!

    June 27, 2012

I took my Yashica and some Tri-x up to Larch Mountain today to capture the fog.

I totally forgot about Wayback Wednesday. Sigh. And I could have embarrassed my little brother today. His birthday was on Monday and he turned 30. I have all sorts of photos of him from way back. Oh well. There is always tomorrow..

Instead, I offer another Hipstamatic photo I took with my iPhone on Monday up at Larch Mountain. Again, I took this exact shot with my Yashica and Tri-x. It will be fun to compare. I am pretty sure the film version will be way better (at least I hope so).
