Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

  • Bush Views Katrina Devastation From Plane

Bush Views Katrina Devastation From Plane

President Bush flew over areas of the South devastated by Hurricane Katrina after holding a video conference Wednesday with top aides to discuss federal relief efforts. “It’s totally wiped out,” he told aides at one point during the hastily-arranged inspection flight.

    Well, that’s good.

There’s even a picture of him viewing the devestation from the plane. Can we say “photo op?”

This picture puts the tragedy in perspective for me:

    Thanks to Frank from iFlipFlop

Tattered Coat also has some photos and info.

I am so saddened for New Orleans. I’ve never been there, but have always wanted to go. It’s heartbreaking to see this happen to such a beautiful city.

One question..has Bush visited the site yet? I haven’t been reading as much of the news as I should, so I dont know. But I haven’t heard that he has. I guess vacationing is more important, if that is indeed the case.

  • Pow Wow

    August 29, 2005

Every year the Spokane Indian Tribe has a Pow Wow in Riverfront Park. They are the only people allowed to camp in the park. I think I heard that they hold the Pow Wow here because the land is sacred.

So my mom and I went and it was so awesome! Watching the dancing was very powerful. The song they played during this dance brought tears to my eyes. I don’t know why, there was something about it that just really moved me.

There were booths set up and we bought some artwork and jewelry. I bought raf an arrow and he was stoked. They had lots of handmade tools for sale.

All in all, a lovely day.

  • The Pond at Canon Hill Park

    August 26, 2005

There is something about the blurriness of this picture that I like. Call me crazy.

This was taken at Canon Hill park, about a block from my house. It was also designed by the Olmsted Brothers. It’s a beautiful little park. It will be fun to take pictures in the different seasons to see how it changes.

  • Japanese Gardens

    August 24, 2005

This is the Japanese Garden’s Koi Pond at Manito Park. Manito Park is an very old park, created in the early 1900s. It was designed by the Olmsted Brothers, sons of Fredrick Olmsted sr., who designed Central Park and a park at the Chicago World’s fair in the early 1900’s.

I’ve been really missing Santa Cruz lately. I keep thinking about how we used to go for walks to the beach and then I realize how far away from the beach I am and my heart aches. It literally aches. I miss it.

I also miss the camaraderie I had at SCU. It seems that as soon as I started there I felt comfortable with the people I worked with. I made fast friends with them and we could laugh. I don’t really have that here. The people I work with are wonderful, don’t get me wrong. But I don’t have the same kind of connection that I had at SCU.

The people in Spokane are different. They are friendly..But it feels different here. I don’t know how to explain it. So I guess I will stop trying.
