Foolish gibberish

  • AboutI am also known as CraftyMoni elsewhere on the web. I am a Children’s Librarian. I am a photographer. I am a knitter. I am a reader. I am a wannabe poet. I blog. Sometimes I complain. I like to swear. I have a really twisted sense of humor. I think I might be a Zen Buddhist (Still trying to decide). Not a fan of organized religion. I am very liberal and can be vocal about it at times. I’m a daydreamer. Sometimes sassy. I try to be compassionate. I think I’m pretty nice most of the time. You can delve into deeper waters by reading these posts. You can see my photography on my Flickr page. If you like any photos you see there or on this site and would like to buy a print let me know. I would be happy to sell one to you! I blather about library stuff on  Twitter. You will also find me on Google+ and Facebook. Enjoy your visit!

We found a hiking spot I didn’t even know existed…and it’s right in town. Dishman Hills. It’s a county park so parking is free. This would be a fantastic place for Raf to go on his weekend run. One of our little rituals in Santa Cruz on the weekend was I would take Raf for a run at UCSC and sit in the car and knit or read while he ran. I really looked forward to this time alone because it was in the Rewood forest and so pretty. There were always familes of deer wandering around me. I miss it. But this might be a good new place. There is a really nice grassy park area where I could go plant myself under a tree and relax while he is running.

Yesterday when we hiked it was 100 degrees. I thought I was going to pass out. I ran out of water and it sucked. This heat sucks!

I could have put more effort in the composition of this photo but I was sitting on a bench, resting. What you see here is Spokane Valley.

  • Ack!

    August 18, 2005

Oh. My. God. This job is keeping me sooo busy. The only time I have left to read blogs anymore is after I get home from work, since I don’t have my own work computer and I can’t do this on the shared computers in the Public Services Workroom. If I could, I don’t think I would even have time since I am running around the library either on desk duty or working on my children’s librarianish stuff. Plus, I am going to need to read more. I need to catch up on YA reading. My boss said that when she started out her goal was to read 5 YA books a week. I don’t know if I will be able to do that, but I clearly need to hit the books.

So I guess more of my time is going to be spent off blog…I guess. I hope I can post about newsy items, but things are a lot different here then the were at SCU.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I apologize if my blogging is not so frequent right now. Hopefully, when I get more in tune with my new life, I will be able to get back into the grove of things.

This is good for me, though. I need this discipline in my life right now.

  • Dragonflies and first days

    August 16, 2005

Took this picture of a little dragon fly while at Skookum lake (I love the way that’s spelled…) the other day. pretty, eh?

Today was my first day at work! It was great! a little overwhelming, but really great. I think I’m going to like it a lot. I love the people that I met today. All very nice. A bit quiet, but library types tend to be that way. Hell, I tend to be that way, too 🙂 .

One quircky little thing is that I have my own cubicle space but not my own computer. I share with the other reference staff in the reference workroom. I’m not really sure if this is good or bad. Definately no personal computing at work for me. I don’t think I will have the time, anyway, because I think this job will be busy. Which is good. I like busy. But I’m not sure how this is going to affect my blogging. Probably not as much of it, or more posts like this one. We’ll have to see. I might bring my laptop to work and just use it, as I will be working in two different branches. I might even invest in an ibook or something…

I love working downtown. It’s close to where I live so I could walk if I wanted to. There is a gigantic hill on the walk back, but, nevertheless. A built in “buns of steel” workout perhaps? 😆

  • Skookum Lake

    August 15, 2005

Here is a little taste of what it is like a few miles outside of Spokane. Skookum lake is in Colville National Forest, and it’s beautiful! And this is just the tip of the Iceberg!

  • Swinging Bridge

    August 11, 2005

I meant to post this picture yesterday but got too busy. It was taken at this place here in Spokane called Bowl and Pitcher. It’s a section of Riverside State Park. I have more pictures from our little hiking adventure at Flickr. This little area here is very pretty, but the hike itself wasn’t super spectacular. I miss my Redwood Forest!

Things here are coming together. Still trying to get unpacked but it’s getting there. Our little place is staring to look more homey. I love our little place! I feel like an adult now. I am so stoked to finally have a washer and dryer, and we have a kitchen table so we can actaully eat dinner at the table. Very cool.

In sad news, I found out that my good friend’s brother died suddenly last week. I’m so sad. I met him and he was such a nice person. I feel awful. I will have to call her today.

I finally got caught up with my Bloglines subscriptions! it took me several hours, though. Hopefully I will get back in my blogging groove soon.
